CarrierPoint: An Intro to CarrierPoint
CarrierPoint is the web-based transportation management system (TMS) that Nucor divisions use to manage truck freight for everything from sending load information to assigning carriers to approving freight invoices on both outbound and inbound loads. To access CarrierPoint's website, go to www.tms.intellitrans.com
The first screen you will see after you have logged in is the HOME page. This is basically a message-board page which includes the following:
- CarrierPoint posts alerts regarding upcoming system updates (and other critical notifications about outages, though this is rare)
- CarrierPoint provides access to their monthly release notes
- Nucor posts current fuel surcharge values
- Nucor posts our month-end schedule
- Nucor posts alerts when monthly carrier scorecards are released
The VIEW LOAD TENDERS page is where most action takes place: viewing load status, assigning carriers or reviewing and awarding bids, scheduling pickup and/or delivery appointments, communicating with the carrier (via a message section in the load details), and viewing pickup and delivery confirmations.
- To search for a specific load, enter that number in the search box in the black bar at the top of the screen from any page (the white space in the screenshot above). Users can search by DSM number, Ref (or load) number, or BOL number.
The DOCK SCHEDULE page provides visibility to what loads have been scheduled throughout the plant for a given day. This is also where divisions that use CarrierPoint to capture the time the truck arrives for their appointment will enter that information.
The CUSTOM REPORTS page provides a listing of the numerous reports that have been created for Nucor based on our needs. You can find reports on carrier users, shipment volumes, average load times by loading area, carrier activity on spot bids, and dispatch reports to help monitor carrier scorecard metrics (missed appointments, loads given back, missed deliveries, etc.)
- Users can search for specific reports and/or keywords using the filter boxes in the header row
The ADVANCED ANALYTICS page is where designated Nucor teammates access the carrier scorecards, EDI Metrics (position updates), and Delivery Confirmation Reporting.
- Note that divisions which have opted not to use the Carrier Scorecards will not be included in the drop-down menu
The LOADS PENDING AUDIT page is where designated Nucor teammates review and approve carrier freight charges, if the division completes this process in CarrierPoint.
