CMP: Verifying whether a carrier is master approved for Nucor
The Nucor Logistics Contracts & Insurance team administers a master carrier approval process to qualify motor carriers to haul steel products, raw materials, and other goods for Nucor facilities in connection with our division operations. The qualification process includes obtaining a Master Carrier Agreement with the motor carrier; verifying the motor carrier’s background, operating history and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (“FMCSA”) Operating Authority; and confirming that all insurance documentation provided by the motor carrier meets the requirements set forth in the contract.
Nucor facilities are prohibited from using any motor carrier that is not a Master Approved Carrier on shipments where we arrange the truck and/or pay the carrier's freight invoice.
When a carrier approaches you with a request to haul freight for your division and you're interested in partnering with them, here is how you can confirm whether the carrier is "Master Approved".
- Log into Nucor’s Carrier Management Portal (CMP) by clicking here or use the link on the NucorNet Logistics page
- If you need assistance with credentials for CMP, please contact Jeremy Walker at the Nucor Logistics Center
- Using the search box in the upper righthand corner, search for the carrier by name, SCAC, DOT number or MC number. Remember to match the DOT number.
- Carrier companies often have very similar names (sometimes a comma or period is the only difference!). Or the 'doing business as' name that the carrier rep uses in conversation is significantly different from their legal name. So for example, if you wanted to set up the carrier "Steel Transport", you would need their DOT number to correctly identify whether the right entry is "Steel Transport Inc" or "Steel Transport Inc.".
If no matching carrier is shown, contact the Contracts & Insurance team for assistance at nlg.contracts@nucor.com
- Click on the carrier name to view the carrier details
- The carrier's status is shown at the top of the carriers' record:
